The 2012 Volkswagen Beetle V5312 represents the debut release of this particular Hot Wheels Beetle casting.
Released as #24/247 overall and #24/50 in the 2012 New Models series, the original version was produced in Metalflake Dark Red with a black roof and spoiler.
One of the nicest features of this release is its unusually complete factory detailing for a mainline Hot Wheels, including detailed headlights, taillights, Volkswagen emblems and the “HTWLS” rear license plate.
The casting continued to appear in later Hot Wheels multipacks and collections in several different colors, making this original 2012 red release an important starting point for collectors building a complete variation set.
Its combination of first-year casting status, Volkswagen licensing and classic Beetle name recognition gives this model broader appeal than many ordinary 2012 mainline releases.
