Hot Wheels 2001 Mainline Series ALTERED STATE #18 Purple
Add an early-2000s Hot Wheels First Edition to your collection with the Hot Wheels Altered State, an old-school altered dragster featuring an exposed blown engine and classic straight-line racing styling.
This debut release features a striking Metalflake Purple body with red, black, gold/white graphics and “Altered State” detailing along the sides. It rides on classic chrome 5-Spoke wheels and features a black interior with an exposed front-mounted engine.
The Purple Altered State is #018 in the mainline and 6/42 in the 2002 Hot Wheels First Editions collection, making this the original debut release of the Altered State casting.
⭐ Collector's Note
This one has considerably more collector history than its current price might suggest. The Purple Altered State is the very first release of the Altered State casting, introduced as #6 of 42 in the 2002 First Editions lineup. It was designed by Mike Nuttall, with collector references also crediting Phil Riehlman, and was styled after the radically modified “altered” dragsters popular in American drag racing. The casting is particularly old-school in its construction: metal body + metal base, exposed blown engine, black interior/roll bar, no windshield and classic 5-spoke wheels.
