Collector’s Notes
The Matchbox 2005 Ford GT casting originally debuted in 2005 and was designed by Ryu Asada. The original tooling ran through 2016 before the model was retooled and returned to the Matchbox lineup in 2021.
 
The real 2005 Ford GT was heavily influenced by Ford’s legendary GT40 endurance racer, and that connection gives this casting strong crossover appeal among both modern-supercar and vintage-racing enthusiasts.
