Vespa (lit. "wasp") is a line of luxury scooters and mopeds manufactured by Italian motorcycle manufacturer Piaggio. Originally starting from a single scooter manufactured by Piaggio, the Vespa brand has since expanded to become a whole range of scooters and one of seven companies owned by Piaggio. The Vespa is noted for its painted pressed steel unibody combining a unified structural unit, engine cowling, a flat floorboard and a prominent front fairing. Today, the Vespa is considered a design icon and one of the world's most iconic motor vehicles. The Vespa 90 Super Sprint, introduced in 1965, featured a spare tire mounted vertically on the floorboard and a glovebox above it. It featured a 90cc 2-stroke single-cylinder engine making 6 horsepower, mated to a 4-speed manual. Weighing 77 kg (170 lb), the 90 Super Sprint was produced until 1971; there was also a smaller 50cc version known as the 50 Super Sprint. 5,309 were produced within that time; it is now one of the more sought-after Vespas due to its low production numbers.
