This futuristic dune-buggy-inspired Hot Wheels creation features a transparent green body with bold orange and black rescue graphics, “RESCUE” lettering across the hood, an orange metal base, black interior, and transparent yellow 5-spoke wheels.
 
Lightnin’ Bug combines classic 1960s dune buggy inspiration with a futuristic exposed-frame design, including visible rear-engine styling and rugged off-road proportions.
 
Released as Collector #179/250 with Mattel product number HKJ18, this version comes on the original Hot Wheels long card and makes a colorful addition to any HW Rescue, fantasy casting, or modern Hot Wheels collection.

Collector’s Notes
Lightnin’ Bug debuted as a Hot Wheels casting in 2022 as part of the X-Raycers series.
This 2023 HW Rescue release represents the casting’s second production year and was issued in two primary colors:
Clear Forest Green – HKJ18
Clear Blue – HKK69
 
Your HKJ18 Clear Forest Green version features orange and black rescue stripes and clear yellow 5-spoke wheels.
The casting was designed by Lindsey Lee and draws inspiration from classic dune buggies while incorporating a futuristic exposed-frame and rear-engine design.
