The Recycling Truck was designed by legendary Hot Wheels designer Larry Wood and first appeared in the Hot Wheels lineup in 1992.
Over its production life, the casting appeared in several memorable variations, including the original orange Recycler, a sanitation-themed version, the Biohazard release, Metro Recycle and the dark-blue Trasher.
In 2001, Mattel retired the original casting as part of the special Final Run series. For its farewell release, it was officially listed as the Garbage Truck, product #26999 and #8 of 12 in the 2001 Final Run collection.
The Final Run version received a white body, special Recycler and Final Run graphics, a distinctive gold-chrome base and Real Riders, giving the final production version a noticeably more premium appearance than many earlier releases.
Production of this particular Recycling Truck casting is documented from 1992 through 2001, making this Final Run release the closing chapter of nearly a decade of Hot Wheels production.
