The Lightnin’ Bug is a futuristic Hot Wheels dune buggy designed by Lindsey Lee and first introduced into the Hot Wheels lineup in 2022.
The casting draws inspiration from the classic dune buggies of the 1960s while incorporating futuristic Hot Wheels styling, including an exposed rear engine, raw tube-frame design and cargo area beneath the hood.
 
For 2023, the Lightnin’ Bug moved into the HW Rescue series as #179/250 and #1/10.
Two primary 2023 color variations were produced: the Clear Forest Green HKJ18 and a second Clear Blue HKK69 version.
 
HKJ18 features orange and black Rescue graphics, an orange metal base and clear yellow wheels, giving the transparent green casting an especially colorful appearance.
 
The combination of transparent bodywork, metal base and futuristic dune-buggy styling makes the Lightnin’ Bug an interesting modern Hot Wheels Original for collectors of unusual fantasy castings.
