Originally created to celebrate Hot Wheels' 50th Anniversary, the HW50 Concept is an aggressive futuristic drag-racer design featuring dramatic proportions, exposed performance styling and a large-engine hot-rod appearance.
As part of the discontinued Hot Wheels id program, the vehicle contains the technology originally designed to interact with the Hot Wheels id digital ecosystem, allowing compatible vehicles to be identified and tracked through the Hot Wheels id system.

The HW50 Concept FXB45 is an interesting piece from the beginning of the Hot Wheels id experiment.
Released in 2019 Series 1, it occupies the #1/5 position in the Moving Forward collection and features the premium-looking Spectraflame Blue finish associated with the Hot Wheels id line.
Hot Wheels id combined traditional diecast collecting with digital technology by embedding compatible vehicles with NFC chips. The system was eventually discontinued, making the original Series 1 vehicles an interesting snapshot of Mattel's attempt to bridge physical Hot Wheels collecting with interactive digital play.
The HW50 Concept also has its own historical significance within Hot Wheels. The casting was originally developed for the brand's 50th Anniversary and debuted in 2018.
For collectors, this particular release combines several desirable characteristics: early Series 1 Hot Wheels id status, Spectraflame finish, 50th Anniversary-related casting history and a discontinued Hot Wheels product line.
