The Thomassima III is one of the more unusual licensed automobiles represented by Hot Wheels.
The real Thomassima III was created by American designer and builder Tom Meade, whose custom sports cars were heavily influenced by Italian automotive design.
Hot Wheels introduced the Thomassima III casting as a 2000 First Edition, with the miniature designed by Greg Padginton. The casting subsequently appeared in blue for 2001 and teal for 2002 before making its final appearance in 2005.
For its farewell release, Mattel gave the Thomassima III a dramatic black finish with flame graphics, red-tinted windows and special Final Run 2005 markings.
Product G6798 became #71 in the 2005 mainline and #1 of 5 in the 2005 Final Run series.
The 2005 Final Run collection was also historically significant because it was the final year of Hot Wheels' original Final Run program before the series went on hiatus.
For collectors of discontinued Hot Wheels castings, the Thomassima III G6798 represents the documented final production appearance of a casting that had a relatively short Hot Wheels lifespan from 2000 through 2005.
