2005 Hot Wheels Firestorm Black First Editions Realistix 9/20 #009 G6717
Add an original mid-2000s Hot Wheels fantasy casting to your collection with the 2005 Hot Wheels Firestorm, released as part of the First Editions: Realistix series.
Designed by Mark Jones, Firestorm is a futuristic single-seat, jet-powered race-car concept with a low aerodynamic profile, enclosed canopy, exposed rear-engine styling, and an aggressive experimental appearance. The casting made its first appearance in 2005, making this G6717 release the original debut version.
The standard variation features a flat/satin black body, orange-tinted canopy, chrome interior, metallic gray metal base, and chrome 5-spoke wheels. Silver and orange detailing appears over the rear section of the vehicle.
This release is Collector #009 and #9 of 20 in the 2005 First Editions: Realistix series. Mattel product number G6717. A separate Faster Than Ever wheel variation was also produced under the same product number.
The car is New in package: See pictures for quality and variations. The card may have some shelf wear on corner and edge.
Collector’s Notes
Firestorm debuted in 2005 and was designed by Mark Jones. The casting remained in production in several forms through 2014.
Two versions of the original 2005 First Editions release are documented:
G6717 – Chrome 5SP wheels
G6717 – Faster Than Ever (FTE) wheels
The FTE version used Hot Wheels’ low-friction Faster Than Ever wheel system and currently commands more interest than the standard 5SP release.
The Firestorm design was also adapted under the name Clawful for a 2006 McDonald’s release.
